What books should I encourage my child to read?

 

At Grenoside Community Primary School, we know that it can be difficult to know which books are best for your child to read. It can also be hard for your child to know what to choose in order to stimulate their imaginations, challenge their thinking and guarantee enjoyment: it can be all too easy for your child to get stuck on a limited diet of Wimpy Kids, Roald Dahl, Jacqueline Wilson and David Walliams – all entertaining writers,  but representing only a tiny sample of the huge variety available out there. By the time they reach year 6, there are a whole host of writers that your child should tackle, such as Michael Morpurgo, Anthony Horowitz, Berlie Doherty, Louis Sachar and Nina Bawden – the list is almost endless.
